Hi, my name is Junho, an illusionist and magician in Sydney. If you are curious about how Close-Up roving magic looks like, I highly recommend you to catch some glimpses in the 2-minute video. You get to watch some complimentary magic too. If you like what you see and want to book a roving magician performance for your event please reach out below!
Close-up roving magic allows me to transform an entire venue into a stage. As I move effortlessly from group to group, each guest enjoys a private moment of impossible magic performed just inches from their eyes. The experience is personal, interactive, and refined, making it the perfect addition to elegant weddings, corporate functions, gala dinners, and exclusive private events.
I believe that truly memorable close-up magic begins long before the first illusion. Before I perform a single effect, my priority is to build a genuine connection with the people I'm about to entertain.
My goal is never to make guests feel as though I've interrupted their conversation just to perform a few tricks. Instead, I want to feel like another guest at the event—someone who has naturally joined the conversation. By taking the time to introduce myself, share a few laughs, and genuinely engage with the people around me, the invisible barrier between entertainer and audience quickly disappears.
Only then do I begin introducing the magic.
Once that connection has been established, every illusion becomes far more powerful. The surprise feels more personal, the reactions become more authentic, and the experience is remembered not simply because of what they saw, but because of who they shared the moment with. Rather than watching a performance from a stranger, guests experience something extraordinary with someone they already feel comfortable around.
To me, great close-up magic isn't about drawing attention to myself or interrupting the atmosphere of an event. It's about becoming part of it. When the magic feels like a natural extension of the conversation, the moments become more meaningful, the reactions more genuine, and the memories far more lasting.
Unlike a stage show, close-up roving magic doesn't require your guests to stop what they're are doing or gather in one place. Instead, the entertainment comes to them naturally throughout the event.
It creates memorable moments without interrupting conversations, making it ideal for cocktail parties, corporate events, weddings, gala dinners, networking functions, and any occasion where guests are there to socialise. Every performance is personal, interactive, and tailored to each group, ensuring your guests experience something unique rather than simply watching from a distance.
Not at all. One of my priorities is making sure every guest feels comfortable.
Nobody is ever singled out or pressured to participate. Some guests enjoy becoming part of the experience, while others prefer simply to watch, and that's perfectly fine. I always adapt my performance to each group, allowing everyone to enjoy the magic in a way that feels natural to them.
Never intentionally.
One of the most important parts of close-up roving magic is reading the room. Rather than approaching guests at random, I look for natural opportunities to join a conversation. My goal is to become part of the atmosphere, not interrupt it. When the timing feels right, the conversation naturally leads into an unforgettable magical experience.
No. Close-up roving magic is designed to be performed amongst your guests, so there is no need for a stage, microphone, or dedicated performance area.
All I require is a safe place to leave my briefcase while I move around the venue entertaining your guests.
Close-up roving magic is perfect for any event where guests are socialising in small groups. This includes cocktail parties, corporate functions, gala dinners, award nights, networking events, product launches, weddings, private celebrations, and many other occasions.
Because the performances take place naturally amongst your guests, close-up magic complements the atmosphere without changing the flow of the event.
That is always my goal.
However, close-up roving magic happens through natural conversations rather than a fixed schedule. Some groups may be enjoying the experience a little longer than others, while some guests may be deeply engaged in private conversations that I intentionally choose not to interrupt.
For that reason, I can't guarantee that every single guest will see the magic. In many cases, that's perfectly acceptable. My priority is always to enhance the atmosphere of the event, not to force an interaction simply to reach every person.
The ideal performance time depends on your guest numbers, venue layout, and event schedule.
As a general guide, one hour of close-up roving magic is suitable for approximately 50–70 guests. Larger events usually benefit from additional performance time, allowing me to meet more guests while keeping the experience relaxed and enjoyable.
If you're unsure, I'm always happy to recommend a performance duration that best suits your event.
A stage show brings everyone together to watch a single performance at the same time. Close-up roving magic is a completely different experience.
Instead of watching from a distance, your guests witness impossible moments happening just inches away—right in their own hands. Because each performance is personal and interactive, the reactions are often stronger, the conversations more engaging, and the memories far more lasting.
Every magician performs tricks. My focus is on how those tricks are introduced. Rather than approaching guests with the intention of performing, I first become part of the conversation. That simple difference changes everything. It creates more genuine interactions, stronger reactions, and an experience that feels effortless rather than staged.
